Hmm from what I know navy life is quite tough need to go sailing and a lot of shift duty I think this is why he choose to take the pay cut and leave.

Can understand that, but to take a massive pay, bonus & benefit cut and join a SME just for that? I doubt this kind of SME sales the working hours will be any shorter than navy if he want to meet target. I suggest TS hang around for a better offer first, no point jump from frying pan into fire.
