That being said, it's not the quantity that determines the success but the quality of the interview yeah?
I once interviewed with a stat board. The first question is introduce myself. I spent abt 15 mins to cover my experience and qualifications. the interviewer asked 1 or 2 questions in between. Then the second question is what question do I have for them. I asked only one question which is how soon can I expect the result. I was told to wait for their update in 2 weeks. The whole thing took 20mins, as opposed to the 1 hour scheduled. I feel for sure screwed up. But in the end I got the offer...

Then there's another interview with DBS. the interviewers asked a lot of details of my past projects, dragging the thing from scheduled 1 hour to almost 2 hours. I felt we had a great technical discussion going on and the atmosphere was great. Then there's no update ever...

You would assume that govt stat boards are even more proper and formal when it comes to recruitment. Also, I read comments and stories about how HR in some stat boards take a very long time to tell them they are recruited...Now it makes it difficult whether to continue to keep your faith in the position or not...
I've applied 100+ jobs in the past 2 years.

for the 90% that I didn't even get interview, probably about 5-10% sent me email rejections.

for the 10+ interviews I attended, only 1 give me a proper rejection.

I see no distinction between private and public sector in the way they reject applications. No update is he default way of rejecting.

Is it really a must to spend 15 mins introducing yourself? I always thought the "Intro yourself/Tell me more about yourself" is like a mini appetizer before the main dish. If they are interested to know more about your job experience or academic background, they would definitely proceed to inquire you...My intro part is at most 5 sentences, giving them a generic idea of what I am currently doing, and what I do outside of work. I totally forgot about mentioning my academic qualifications, which I hope it does not matter too much since I am already in the work force.

My interview is long because the interviewers not only ask many questions, but they also talk ALOT about the position. It all boils down to the interviewers' style I think. I pray that it is a good sign, cos I doubt interviewers would want to share so much info if they did not see potential in you. They might as well chop chop end the interview and call in the next candidate so as not to waste their time.

Have they gotten back to you? Typically how long do we have to wait for the results of interview? Mine already 1 month but still no reply, should I call back to check?

Ya.. 1 month should call and check ba.. Then at least you can move on if it's rejection, rather than pinning your hope on it. Keep us updated.

my experience is move on from the moment I walk out of the interview. hoping for the best won't help a thing so better put time to more useful things like preparing for next interview/application.

Eh no I don't know if I should maintain my current mindset "As long as you never receive any rejection letter/email, it means you still have chances". To some people it may seem naive, but you have to give and take a little when it comes to operational efficiency - Hr took slightly more than 2 weeks to process my application, and that's only shortlisting of candidates for interview. My friend who's currently working in private sector, said it took 1 month to hear anything from her current employer, reason being she was probably not the interviewers' first choice. I don't know if civil service is the same or not.

My friend also experienced the same thing. Her interview at one of the stat board is short but she managed to get through. Just curious, how fast did both of you receive the offer from the last round of interview?
