I feel that usually final interview, bosses are seeing if we are a good cultural fit for the team. Not easy also. Final interviews also don't know what to say at times. Wishing all the best in job search. I have also been unemployed for some time. So hoping all of us get the best results. I stopped applying to Civil service and decided to diversify my search. Just pop by here once in a while to encourage other people. Don't be disheartened. There will certainly be an offer for everyone ultimately!

Agree, i have seen bosses putting great emphasis on cultural fit now as compared to the past. It is not just about someone being smart or hardworking or have very related experience. More often, bosses want to make sure that the person they hire can fit into the department or team well. They want to maintain that harmony and good working relationship between one another. I have also experience bosses who hire someone (to lead the department) who ticked most of the boxes less cultural fit and ended up the department faces mass resignation.

think it gets disheartening when the numerous interview attempts yield unsuccessful outcome

to the point it saps any remaining confidence in oneself

I can relate.
At the end of the day, just have to remember it is nothing personal.

I learnt to be thankful for every rejection that I received. Although I am employed, I am not happy. I feel that it is a bullet dodged because it probably means that I will be unhappy working with the company if they hired me.

For me, I think I will take every rejection as a chance to move forward as hard as it may be. Ultimately you will get a role that you want. I believe. And every interview is a chance to hone interview skills.

as more rejections come in
self doubt will start (or it has) already crept in
to the point i will doubt if my skill sets after these donkey years are even worthy all these while.
