SRC seldom have open job posting, normally they hire based on internal refering. Best if you could get to know someone working inside.

Hi guys! I need some advice from current staff in the oil/gas industry. I possess a diploma in mechanical engineering. Ord-ed 2 mths already with no exp.. Have went for the aptitude test just recently in Shell Bukom & just when i thought im in the right path, a friend told me its advisable to get a degree 1st. Im weighing the odds between joining as a process tech(if im accepted...) or signing on & pursue part time uni. Lets say in 5 years time(after getting a degree), which will give me a better prospect?

Thank you in advance..

If your mind is set on oil and gas industry, what for go and sign on which is totally irrelevant to the industry? if you have money constraints, better to join as a process tech and worked your way up to a degree while gaining experience at the same time.

Most big oil/gas companies have a education program for their employee to upgrade their skill.

I believe shell Bukom shift allowance is in the range of $1100, please correct me if I'm wrong. It's a bit higher than those that are working on jurong island. But take into consideration of the 8 hour working shift and the ferry waiting times.
