BTW not only do SWE earn good salaries, other roles can pay close to 100k or exceed it for fresh grads
- Investment bankers (obviously)
- Strat consultants (MBB, tier 2)
- tech sales (amazon, salesforce ...)
- data scientists
- quant traders
- doctors (? not so sure)
- lawyers (? not so sure)

I'm sure there are others also. For sure these are competitive but they do exists. Open your eyes people.

Tech sales earn as much as SWE meh? Do they have RSU also?

100K pa jobs do exist for fresh grads. But what is the percentage of fresh grads getting these jobs? Is it a whopping 70%? Most will never get this salary as a fresh grad. But if you can get it all the best to you! Just dont convince people that 100k pa is a norm for most fresh grad jobs.

Shopee asks for gpa even if you have 5 years experience. Their inexperienced recruiters just go through a checklist and that’s one of the equations they ask

Shopee is known to be very grades oriented, if you're not a 2nd upper you are probably like 2nd class citizen there

What thing inexperience recruiter? All jobs go through their internal HR, there's no GPA entry in their system. Interns doing internal transfers also no GPA field to write.

If you have more than 3 YOE you'll go through a different job posting process. This one also no GPA field to fill nor will they even ask.

Really curious, I’ve been approached by several members of their hr; this is always one of their closing questions next to compensation expectations, do you work in their hr?

What?

They ask for your transcript to check what mods you have taken and whether you have math minor, etc or not... you DO know that local uni tech courses provide specializations right? and if you want to do ML specific roles you need to have coursework to prove that you can handle ML?

Nowhere does it say it's for GPA lol also in our NTU #careers-share discord channel, as far as I know the first class honor people are getting the same pay as the average students.

Noobs just see linkedin or hiring pages then anyhow make assumptions. u confirm never worked at shopee before.

I'm extremely puzzled as to why there's so much controversy over simple / straightforward facts like comp package and the hiring process in this thread. Every post is contradicted by some other post.

Either the company's practices are wildly inconsistent, or there's many csb inaccurate statements and liars in this thread.

Didn't know a third rate tech company like Shopee could be of such interest to so many people.
