1. Always be a yes man. Whatever the management/superior says, just agree.
2. Don’t be the first person in your team out of the office, you will be marked and may suffer when it comes to appraisal (need a scapegoat to take the C- grading)
3. Volunteer for CCAs (ie PSC sect, PDM sect, organizing comm) if you want to promote faster even though you’ll soon see there are always favoritism for certain characteristics)
4. Find out who is the high flyer/ teacher’s pet and don’t offend that guy (he can soon be your boss)
5. If you are a fresh grad, power to you, and do not assume responsibilities too early in your career. Get your senior to look through all your work before sending anything
6. Don’t trust if anyone tells you they are quitting, because they usually just want to shirk responsibilities. I have been in LTA 5 years and almost everyone who said they want to quit are still here. Those who leave will leave quietly because silent plans are best plans

Progress wise is just a slow grind. And salary is average at best even though rail contract colleagues get MAC which is an additional mth of salary
1.7 month for MAC

If your DD is transferred to another department and DD wants you to go over. Is that a good sign that you’re being “handpicked/chosen one”? Even though i’m not a scholar. Will I have a better life and better progression in my DD’s department?

Actually is there any difference between hand picked chosen one versus scholars? i think scholars will be better in terms of scholar track. i’m not sure about the hand picked chosen one. anyone encountered this before? would like to know about this too

Scholars can grow out of favour along the way. Hand picked ones will have a concrete path laid out for them.

Hand pick > scholar

Can any seniors advise if LTA’s contract positions are renewable? Interviewed for a civil engineer (rail) and was told that it is 3 years renewable. Can anyone share if it is possible to convert to perm after 6 years?
