Doing fund accounting at a REIT now, getting 6.2k now after 6 years work exp. Many other fund houses can pay much higher, but I like the flexible work life balance here. Almost never OT and during off peak can come in office quite late.

Hi just curious - are you in a blue chip REIT or isit one of those small listed ones? Your pay seems quite low for this industry.

6.2k basic I presume? Do you need any special skills or experience to break into accounting for financial service firms such as yours?

Haha yes it's a small cap REIT. Pay wise I agree that it is very low compared to my peers, but for me the main attraction is work life balance. No OT and when work volume is low, boss will unofficially allow everyone to come in later or leave office earlier. This is advantage of working in a small co. Only 10+ ppl in the whole office.

Yes 6.2k is basic, bonus not very high either, about 3-4 months.

I personally find the books I'm doing now much simpler compared to my ex-company, but then we are only managing a small cap REIT so maybe those BB like the Blackrock or Fidelity is much harder.

In terms of special skills I don't have much beyond the standard ACCA and 4 years of exp in corporate finance in a listed local firm.
