Many can't even earn 3M in his/her lifetime....be sensitive when you post.

Yup, this is true hence the guy who like to brag about his 3m cash savings should stop posting insensitively.

Its fine to brag, human nature. Its in all of us. What I can't stand is the automatic assumption that everyone looks up to him. Stuck on the esteem needs portion of the pyramid, hope he moves on haha

My wife and I are in our mid fifties and we have decided to retire next year. We plan to move to Malaysia and need some advice on the best places there to retire. Our children are grown ups and on their own.

If we move to Malaysia, our assets are able to generate passive income of S$4k pm or S$48k pa (RM125k pa). RM125k pa is a big amount of income for an retired couple in Malaysia.

Are there any Malaysian or ex-Malaysian posters in this forum who can advice?

We heard of places like Penang, Malacca and KL (and to avoid JB). Are there any other places we can consider? Places where we can live in a nice house or condo and have access to good healthcare services.

Thanks.

Are you thinking of commuting frequently up and down? Or are you thinking of taking up the MM2H program? Under the MM2H program you will get like a PR status, and dont need to keep going in and out of the country everytime the visa expires.

But to qualify for the MM2H, you will need to show monthly income of RM10k per person.

Malaysia, like any other country, want only people with money and/or who can contribute to their economy.

27 this year and wife 26.
Combined annual at 240k.
Bought a condo at slightly over 1m, 800k loan remaining.
Jap car fully paid up.
Adopting a high risk investment strategy given our youth and lack of commitments, hoping it will pay off and enable us to retire early.
Planning to have kids soon so might have to reallocate and revise my investment portfolio/strategies.

Having Kids will be the biggest investment risk. Most parents sacrifice all or most of their saving, but have forgotten to teach their Kids about filial piety.

48, sole breadwinner, $150k pa. Wife, 46, is a home maker. Upgraded to a condo in 2003, paid $500k. Now fully paid up. Current valuation, $1m. Drives an old car, paid up.

Current spending, $100k pa. Savings, $50k pa including CPF savings.

Current combined net worth, $1.5m. Hope to reach a combined net worth of $2.5m at least when I reach 68, my target retirement age.

Any comments whether a net worth of $2.5m is enough for a retired couple in Singapore?
We plan to retire simply, not aiming to travel the world as we have enough of traveling. Also, we will not own a car any more. We will cook our own meals and eat at hawker centers.

curios, are you running your own or family business? 240k is a lot at such a young age.

This sounds too generic and familiar on this forum. Is it YOU again?
