You don't even earn b4 level, while you're JLC, you're just earning slightly more than DPP lol (and don't forget you usually have to do a DPP stint as a JLC before moving to the courts). You "make up" for the lost earnings by getting to brag that you were a JLC, and hoping that the name sticks with you enough that you can jump into big4/int firms after the stint. However, alot of JLC come out and end up failing in private practice (and doing worse than their less academic peers) because they were too coddled in the AGC/courts, or they are just good at "school lawyering", which makes them only suited for academia.

If you're a FCH, just apply to int firms directly, you'll probably do better that way. The only exception is if you know you want to do litigation, and you don't mind slogging it out after.
Can tell you’re lying or talking nonsense. You say JLC are “earning slightly more than DPP”. Absolutely wrong.

They earn the same. What difference is there? U must have no acquaintance in JLC or DPP

JLCs are primus inter pares of the legal profession.
There are some FCH that don’t become JLCs, either because they apply but rejected at interview stage etc or some go straight into private practice.
Just like FCH is no guarantee that you’ll make a lot of money in private practice, it counts for something to be a JLC.
How do we know if a lawyer is good? Things like SC, or recognition in Legal 500.
Same for junior lawyers. FCH, Part B distinctions, JLC.

Agree. Unless you're telling me someone earmarked for the bench "fails" in private practice, a proposition I find incredulous.

To add, there's a reason why JLCs are also earmarked for partnership in local B4s. The industry consensus is that JLCs are likely excellent lawyers. You can earn $ in international but you'll likely always be an associate. You'll never catch a whiff of that equity dough.

Your metric (of going to an international firm) is just not the only metric.

JLC only matters if you're doing disputes.

For transactional, it really does't matter.

Salary partnership in local firms means jack squat. Local firms sweat their salaried "partners" like how K&E sweats their NEPs - only metric is how people get to equity and local firms will never divulge that.
