Have you consider study overseas instead? Like in Europe, US or Australia? Even if it is a 2nd tier U, I believe you can still stand out among the many sim grads here. If you lack of money, go borrow from relatives. This option can do you a lot of good, trust me.

Hi. i came from a poor family. Going to overseas is out of the question. Just have to work really hard if i go to SIM. Anyway, i think working experience will be more important.

Yes & No.

For mid career work experience more important.

For fresh grad, university is most important. SIM grads have limited opp in public sector & government companies, most top MNCs are also adverse to hiring SIM.

A lot of SIM or pte university grads end up plying their trade in SMEs or small MNC. This restricts the quality of work experience and future prospects. Try to get in NTU if possible.

If you continue to think like your parents and make the same career choices as they had.. the poverty will continue in your generation and will pass on to your children.. they certainly will not love you for it...
I know it is diffcult because somehow the self-defeating pattern of thinking is already ingrained into your DNA... You are paralysed by fear... but you must resolve to make a difference this time... to no longer resign youself into carrying on down the road of stupidity and destruction leading only to anguish, disappointment and finally Bedok Reservoir... so make sure you make the right choice.. Choose SIM....

Make up your mind what u want. SIM business, NTU engineering and Nursing are so diverse. You sound very confused. So many people are kind enough to bother to post and advise you, don't waste their time! Bleah! What's next, you also want to sing and dance and act ?

I guess he/she is just keeping his/her options open because of A level results.

Anyway please check whether you are eligible for Materials engineering because if im not wrong you would have to take physics in A levels to enter any engineering courses in NTU.

Anyway to add on, if you really know your interest, i suggest you retake your A levels or maybe try applying for common engineering in NTU. I think it's easier to enter common engineering than straight to NTU Materials Engineering.

Interesting....but your arguement to choose SIM has no basis at all. It's more like a maverick talking. While it's good to think "out of the box" sometimes, you don't seek to be a contrarian just for the sake of it, especially for important life decison. Very irresponsible of you to mislead a young mind!
