Government tech jobs

Hi all,

Wanting to find out your views about staying in a government tech job. Heard that the pay is good, but you end up doing a lot of paperwork and admin... and your tech skills start to rot. How true is this?

Anyone ever managed to escape a government tech job to go to the private sector without getting a pay cut? Due to high pay in the govt job and out-of-date technical skills after a few years...
