OP you want to join tech but not SWE then what kind of roles are you looking for.
Public sector tech is generally a waste of time. Govtech scholars all want to zao or break bonds while they are still studying once they get a FAANG offer. DSTA friends generally wasted a lot of time although a select few are happy. Astar CS/Engineering scholars mostly want to serve and FO ASAP. IMDA is a joke after all the OG IDA ppl left for govtech. Heard bad things about HTX.
So what if the defense guys can pay you 5k for you to not develop your career, 10 years down you might be making 8-10k and stuck doing shitty proj management because you can't go anywhere

1. FCH therefore deserves high paying job
2. Go into tech because tech companies pay highly
Are these the right reasons for going into tech? So eg. Lets say next year the construction business exploded with lucrative pay etc, and tech people are treated as cost centers and neglected in the corporate chain again, would this guy also be the first to say he want to get into construction? Follow where the money is, amiright?
Jokers.

Haha then u will have women in construction program to ride the hype

They have personal connections and network to the hiring manager. You have? Don't have then don't sprout nonsense.

AI and/or Robotics
cuz its FAANG ma, if they dont get FAANG offer? Likely will stay no?
Was thinking leave after 2~3 years once nothing much to learn anymore, under the assumption next company will look at last drawn salary.

You are valued based on what you are worth and put you into that salary band. I joined from public service to MNC and they straight-up offer me 50% more. Didn't even bother to check my last drawn pay to make that offer. They did made me submit the last drawn pay only as a matter of due diligence after the offer was accepted.

wow thats sick, mind i ask which MNC is it? How do they determine your worth then? coding assessment or past experience have more weightage?

I joined from SB (8k) to Big4 (consulting practice, not risk advisory) for around 12.5k per month. Once you add in my bonus, comes up to around 14k. I left 3 years later at around 200k PA as SM. Before, that SB, I was actually in another consulting practice with global assignments, so switching wasn't difficult.
Honestly, I feel lucky because I am a farmer with a part-time degree. No FCH, no fancy pants university.

I need to qualify, I am a slow starter in my career (I am in my forties) so it is just ok. People here earn much more than me.
As for FAANG, I've interviewed with them before (AWS) and reached the last round. Eventually didn't get the job but the more I know them, the less interested I was.

But let's not talk about FAANG because the % of ppl who qualify for it are probably quite minute. I feel comparing to non FAANGs and not shopee grab lazada etc is more realistic for the majority
