lol you see this cycle then report back lor. with wage inflation like this, also hard for banks to cut back on bonuses too much else everyone will jump ship.

That being said, I would still expect to be paid handsomely as this is why I came to the field in the first place right? I don't come to the field to learn more about companies, that's only **** I tell the MD/D in interviews. So since you are experienced in the field, how much bonus on average we can expect (let's ignore last year one-off huge bonus), do you think average of 9 months is achievable in SG?
GS just reported dealmaking revs down too. Friends in tech firms are paid in equity so their effective comp is slammed and it’s not like companies are keen to maintain ESOP $value at these share prices (dilution). There’s no divine karma to maintain the 12m bonus that you are eyeballing dude. Just as market forces and labour competition can bring your base+bonuses up, a **** market can bring it down. Just like market forces can bring companies up to 50x sales and every investor is a genius, they can bring it back down to 2x, and everyone is retarded.

The only silver lining is - analysts are the last to get slammed on comp (everyone else had more upside + analysts are the cheapest) so there should still be a healthy bonus. Just don’t expect a monster bonus every year.

Wow damn that's pretty insane.

I heard about the insane crypto salaries, found a few verified ones too online but I always wondered like what was the highest they could go.

The highest I saw on nodeflair was like 15k, crazy to think people can get almost twice of that!

Was your bonus also paid in crypto? or cash?

Every job has its risks

Equity research - from more-baller-than-M&A in the 90s being the Moses to companies in the sea of capital markets, to getting slammed HARD by regulations and just being a corporate access manager putting together NDRs

M&A / capital markets - dealflow / primary financing market volatility, but arguably one of the few finance roles where your skill has ACTUAL fundamental demand outside of finance

Private equity - personal career risk: good luck finding your seat at the table if you didn’t tag on the best deals all the way. Multiples contraction hitting returns after riding on 30 years of multiples expansion on leverage. Political / regulatory risk once enough hate for PE accumulates.

SWFs / state pension - pay/returns optics and political risk (change of political overlords)

Hedge funds - personal career risk = payouts as big as 8 figs, longevity as short as 3 months

VC - you are either part of the 3-4 unicorns in this region, or you are not. Good luck if you are not. Your management fees won’t save you.

HF / MM shops - still minting right now, but regulation / politics is probably the biggest risk. There’s only a limit to how much you can say “we provide liquidity” pls. Career risk - not sure what else you are valuable for if your only raison d’etre is to game exchange microstructures.

Crypto - lmao don’t get me started.
