wow, how does one earn so much with just that level of experience, even with an MBA?

I'm more than 5 years in and i am nowhere close. I can't think of any job that pays this well other than a trader/investment banker at a BB?

Pretty standard for strategy consulting. Go and look up LinkedIn profiles of McKinsey/BCG/Bain MBA consultants. Typically 2-3 years pre-MBA consultant role --> MBA --> Post-MBA consultant role. Quite common. Some lucky ones even get sponsored for their MBA.

oh wow ok, no wonder consulting is one of the most popular professions for MBAs, even though they have ultra long working hours.

Post-MBA consulting assoc around ~S$12k+ per month at MBB, plus a small bonus, maybe S$160-170k per year

IBD associates (M&A etc) around ~$18k per month, half a year bonus at least, if not more, so at least S$320k a year. but most IBs don't hire from this route these days

Business / corporate roles in large tech companies probably makes sense. they are hiring a lot these days and I suspect the pay will be comparable to consulting.

The difference is in the mba sponsorship, my friend and I make similar packages, ~180k (he did mba in US).

One can argue the usefulness of an mba in this region, especially when most top school candidates are already stellar prior to entry, but that’s a separate discussion

Wouldn't an MBA be a requirement in this case? Pretty sure the pool of candidates all have an MBA with stellar grades, internships at good companies, etc etc.
