Default Leaving current form before joining new one

Joining new firm in more than 2 months time. But leaving current firm in one weeks time.

Worried that new firm may ask or check about my last day at current firm , then it would be difficult to explain, l feel as the notice period of 2 months is stated on my application form.

Any advice or experience to share?

Is it common practice to ask for new personnel's proof of last day at old firm? or pay slip?

Thanks

You mean to stay you're taking a break before commencing your new job but you didn't want to let them know?

So far, no company has requested for the letter confirming my resignation from my previous employer.

Yeah, basically don't want new firm to know that I am on a 1.5 months break before joining them.

I am not leaving the current firm under the best of circumstances and my industry is pretty small so I would not want to give new firm any reasons to start probing around.

So they didn't clarify regarding your notice period as stated as 2 month, like whether you can shorten etc.? What was your response?

If they didn't ask, keep it at that I suppose. Anyway, you gave short notice to your current coy ah?

I'm thinking that in the event they were to find out and ask, perhaps you can say that you managed to shorten your notice period only after confirming your start date with the new coy or you already have a plan trip and didn't want to take leave during probation period or when you just started work that kinda thing.

So far new coy didn't ask, just assume that I have not resign before they offer me.

Hope new coy won't probe or ask for stuffs like last day of work when I join later this year but if they do, just have to cook up some story, I guess.

since they didn't ask, most likely means they don't need you to join urgently also. so even if they ask or find out later, you are not totally at fault.

if they do, just say family matters. most ppl won't probe further and there's no where that's gonna say that maybe you mentioned to shorten your notice period.
