Depends. Some min will give verbal offer before proceeding for security clearance

While some min dont esp if you need high clearance level like cat 1. So is depend on the min and position you are applying to.

logically make more sense to clear the person 1st
once clear, then offer the post to him / her

Anyway, since HR already told you 1-2weeks should probably wait and see at the end of next week. I’m now in a similar position as you, interviewed last week and was told by the panel to wait 1-2 weeks. I don’t have a good feeling cause in my previous govt positions, those that offered me always called the next day. And if its a rejection, its 2weeks after interview.

Maybe they changed the way they work? Hopefully both of us gets the job!!

Poster of this. Today HR sent rejection email. Guess i was right usually if its a 1-2weeks wait its most likely they will reject.

Any experienced HR here. Can explain what’s the purpose of pre employment health check and whether does it affects offer of appointment already offered and signed?
