If you're working in a BB, you should know that they adjust the salaries accordingly across countries.

Hi all,

Is it really impossible to get into an entry level FO role without relevant experience? Have been applying to Corporate Finance/Project Finance/Advisory jobs the past few months but no success. Am not particular about which bank/advisory firm, no salary expectations, don't even mind internship as long as I can gain the experience in the correct field.

Age: Early 30s
Background: 4+ years in BO/MO. Recent MBA Grad. CFA charterholder.

Is age an issue? Are my chances close to none?
What are the other career options that "recognises" a MBA degree?

With MBA and CFA, u have a good chance. I think the job market is just really bad now. All banks have headcount freeze and not hiring new staff. U should get a shot when the market recovers again

It also depends what MBA you have, and what you have done during your time there.

Not all degrees and MBAs are created equal.

His MBA from where? So you mean if can't get then not worth it to get MBA?

Yes job market is real bad now especially for banking.

MBA is from one of the three local uni.
Did an internship in shipping finance during the MBA. Quite a nice place but unfortunately no headcount for conversion.

I also think you're in good position. Is the BO/MO from a branded well known place? You have all the right ingredients, MBA, CFA, 4+ years of experience. Sure, the move from BO/MO to FO is rare, but your story looks to be the ones that make the typical transition.

Did you graduate mid last year or just? If last year, why not build up your experience in the meantime?
