Default Getting started in investment

Hi all, I have just graduated from university and had began my career as an engineer for a few weeks. However, I do not wish to just stick to a single source of income and as I hope to venture into investing. Before anyone starts putting me down and say that I have just only started work and should save up etc., let me clarify that I am not going to dive straight into it.

The problem now is that I have literally zero knowledge on investing and finance. I am hoping that someone here is able to guide me as I start my journey into investing. Are there an websites or books that would be strongly recommended? What are the important things that I should look out for when investing? Any investing related advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks alot and appreciate any help!

Investment seminar at Suntec City Convention Centre today. You can go and take a look to see what's in the market. (Caveat emptor, some dubious investments I think. Not saying they are worth investing in.)
Many articles in Sunday Times Invest section too. You can read those too.
Anyway, since you are starting out, you will probably lose some money as you try out investments with high risk high return profiles (most pple are greedy and will try risky trading starting out). Maybe you can register one of those free dummy trading accounts and try out your investing / trading strategies first before putting in your hard earned money.

Nowadays, its hard to invest on something that you do not fully understand. Anyway, real estate could be a great sideline. There's a lot of resource and information that you can find out there. Just google it!

Well, you need to decide in what kind of invesments are you interested in. Bonds, shares, penny stocks, stocks, hedge funds in singapore etc.. If you can an advisor for hire would be preferable, or you can try some online training and courses.

Hello,

There is no issue if you don't have any knowledge of finance and investment. Miami real estate lawyer will help you out to understand all the legal procedure involved and how much time it will take.

Miami? Why are you making things very complicated for a typical Singaporean?
Please refrain from posting and creating confusion to us Singaporeans. We want to invest in Singapore.

what worked for me and my wife:

1. work hard at your job and get promoted to increase your income (ours currently combined $29K monthly, excluding bonus)

2. be thrifty in your early years and save as much as possible

3. don't waste time with stocks as the market volatility can distract you from your work. keeps lots of cash for the next step below.

4. buy property when recession comes (we did this in 2003, 2009 and 2010, overall realised profit of $1.35M and paper profit of $400K)

so far, the above approach has helped me and my wife build a net worth of about $3M (we are 38 and 37 years old) starting from zero. if we want to, can semi-retire already.

You bought property at 26/25 y.o.? How did you accumulate enough cash at this age, if you both had to spend on weddings etc...
