May I asking too much for AD kind of position?
If I ask lower salary, will HR think I am suspicious case?

Will my age be a issue ? The D or DD may be younger than me?
TIA
90k is within the AD salary range. The D or DD may be younger but that shouldn't be an issue for them either. It's fairly common for the bosses in civil service to be younger than their subordinates.

To the 3 wise expert, thank you for your honest view.
Let's see how it goes.

Hi there everyone! New to here and am going to join the workforce after I graduate later this year.

Currently my GPA is approaching 2nd Upper and I am writing this to ask about something.

I have signed on with LTA for their LSA and I have chosen my posting.
HR has told me that I will receive my posting by Apr 16 latest and arrange my starting salary and other details.
However, by looking at posts here, I understand that civil service pay is usually tagged to class of honours.

May I know roughly how much to expect? I'm going to be 27 this year, with NS.

Currently 2:2, but 0.03 to 2:1. So wondering whether to chiong for it or not!

Many thanks!

It doesn't matter if the DD is younger. In general, there isn't much difference between AD and DD in terms of job responsibilities. It merely means the DD knows what to do faster as he/she is around in the ministry/stat board a little longer than you. The D is at best a Senior/Manager in an MNC.

CS have many set of rules that pte doesnt have hence when i apply back to CS, they do always state they prefer people who know how CS works. in CS, their AD can be as young as 26 for scholars and if you dont mind to be on par with them, then you can try.

well, i could say that you have choose to enter CS at quite a later age which is not advisable because they always want younger people due to their thinking in seeing the future and the syllabus they go through were either up to date or already planning for the future. last but not least, the frquency among all the management level must be on the same level.
Having seen both private colleagues and those who have been with CS forever (i.e. 10 years or more) the private colleagues definitely have much broader skillsets and abilities. However, CS likes to recognise the CS-trained staff and as a result, highly qualified new hires from private are often short-changed and regarded as "lower" quality and placed on a lower grade. It's not an uncommon HR practice. An amusing observation

Don't be silly. Chiong for it regardless. Class of degree affects more than just your starting salary, esp in PS.

Default Mas

Hi guys,

I was wondering if anyone knows what the starting pay with ns is like for MAS grad officers?

Currently finishing my final sem in SMU, and will probably graduate with a Summa or a high Magna. Was wondering if there are there any differences in terms of career progression and starting pay if I graduate with a Magna rather than a Summa?

Hope to hear from you all!

Thanks!

Hey guys, and especially to the veterans in the civil service here.

I am a fresh graduate from a reputable overseas university majored in economics and have applied for several fresh grad roles in the civil service. I have no experience except for temporary part time jobs during the holidays.

How long will they normally take to reply to shortlist for interview? And will they update the 'status' at the career.sg job portal? Do you think I will clinch fresh grad position and pay? My university is top 100 in world ranking.

Thanks for your help!

no diff in pay between first class and second upper. paywise, their monthly gross is nothing to shout about (lesser than some sb). but their bonus is much higher than most civil/public servants.

ucl that kind or others? if othrs then dont keep ur hope up. Given how bad the mkt is, tons of fresh grads are going to flood the civil service this year. competition will be extremely steep.
