Does anyone know if it is possible to complete diploma in occupational med while still employed by moh? I understand the final assessment requires a case report of a workplace, not sure how to fulfill that if still under moh?

Beri hard

Occupational diploma is for dfd
U want to have dfd in coz u Harbour thoughts of running away
So expecting to be disloyal yet want a good assessment is impossible

However I highly encourage u to join prevent med residency and specialize in occupational health

I am thinking of going overseas to practice for a while and potentially migrate there for good. I understand that I will have to redo all training and the pay likely not as good as Singapore. But I am just bored of Singapore and it's healthcare tbh.

(Background: I studied in UK but left after FY1 back in 2016)
Aussie full-time GP (40 hours a week) is A$300-500k++ per year hence why UK GPs quitting NHS and migrating en masse down under, but some difficulty getting into training program for IMGs. More income if you do procedures (allowed in Aussie but not in SG). There is a big facebook group for UK GPs looking to work in Australia, but not the other way around.

Psychiatry easier to get into than GP training in Aussie for IMGs and similarly paid. Paeds is lowest paid specialty in Aussie, easiest to get in but most of their trainees really enjoy treating kids.

u must be peddling drugs on the side.
u might bill 300k in that time. remember revenue != profit
billings is 70 percent of ur billings.
u take back 200 to 240 k nia.
after 30 percent net tax, left 150 to 160k.
one mth average 12k.
self employed so no super.

ur gdfm fp makes that amt in polyclinic

I'm not an Australian GP but I am curious as a med student so did some quick Google-fu and found that Australian GPs job sites advertised rates are at $200/hour for FRACGP fellows. Based on OP's hours, that is $200/hour x 40 hours/week x 52 weeks = $416,000. Even after 30 percent tax, that is more than local GPs. Big tickets items in Australia like cars and property are less than half of ours and a home is not an overpriced 99 years leasehold.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe only pharmacists can legally sell meds in Australia unlike Singapore, so that's an additional source of income for Australian GPs if the Australian government legalise it like Singapore in future? I'm thinking of doing an overseas elective in Australia just to find out what life there is like as a GP.

Alamak fellows salary of course higher la, even our local fcfps also classed higher than your neighbourhood GP or polyclinic Mmeder.
Their non-fellow GP pay confirm will be lower one maybe 20-30% less similar to our pay level, relax la. My advice is to pass your mbbs first then think about pay.

Gp working independently in Australia generally have FRACGP. they don’t have MBBS GPS like we do in Singapore. Shows how little you know yet freely sharing your ‘advice’
