Default Banking Position / Credit

Hey guys, pardon me for asking some questions, i just wanted to see any of you experienced guys out here can share with me some information if it's not too much trouble.

I'm a fresh grad and got offered a job interview at Maybank. They said it will be a credit role / loan processing job. May I know what does this job entail? Will it be commission based etc? Like what would I be doing actually. Because they were unwilling to answer my questions over the phone.

They also told me that it'll be at lavender. From what I checked there isn't a Maybank office in lavender. Checked online said its permantely closed. By any chance is there an office there which isn't stated online? Or could it be a neighbourhood branch. Anyone here who knows anything mind sharing some information with me? It'll be gladly appreciated. Thanks once again for reading this.

Contract or perm? Since you are fresh grad not working just go down lor. At most just treat it as interview practice.

They just told me over the phone that it is a "credit role" "Loan processing". These were the two phrases they said with regards to the job nothing else was given thats why im unsure of what the job position entails.

And i've googled the location for lavender's branch it looks like one ulu atm branch at textile street.

This is a backoffice role. Loan processing basically involves loan applications put through by the loan specialists, which will require input into the various banking systems and reporting mechanisms. Very administrative by nature and usually involves a lot of paperwork.

At the interview, just paint yourself out to be some meticulous, detail-oriented, multi-tasker and you should do fine. Remember to give examples of how you exhibited such traits, real or fake doesn't matter. Interviews are all BS anyway. It's about who BS the best.

And to add on, I highly doubt you will be situated at a branch. I believe Maybank has an off-site office in the area which houses their back-office departments.

It's pretty rare to find diploma holders in banks nowadays, other than those temp administrative positions or clerks and bank tellers. Even the most mundane roles require degree holders. But to position my answer to you, even if a diploma holder is considered for your role, their pay will be significantly less than a degree holder's.

If I'm not mistaken, given a standard backoffice settlements role, a diploma holder probably only draws 2.1-2.2k, while a degree holder draws between 2.7 to 2.9k.

Thank you very much! I feel much more enlightened now after reading what you just said, i really appreciate it.

I only have one last thing on my mind though, for back end settlements role will there be any good future prospects? regarding career advancement wise in the future, or its like a dead end because as someone said its a very administrative work, im afraid i won't be able to learn much.
