HR called and sent me prelim offer after reference check. Then from two weeks + 1 day (from prelim offer date), vital contacted me.

Well, i feel this depend on min/sb. I only know if u are currently in service, they will contact your current hr. If you are private gg to public, they will do referral check with the one you had provided. It also depend on the clearance level they giving you. Heard that a g50 form clearance can take up to 2 months esp in this situation. Cat 1 clearance even longer.

I've been waiting for 6.5 weeks, not even a prelim offer.

I dont get why would HR want to proceed with clearance (i assume else why wait so long) without discussing with me first on the salary package? What happen if i dont agree with the package? then they waste time clearing. Doesn't make sense.

Sometimes I wonder the long processing can it be due to they are not in urgent hiring or too many candidates in the queue? It can take really long.

From what i heard, is they need clear you first like no financial embarrasment, no crime records all those. Then discuss salary package and get approval for appointment. I also wonder why security clearance took so long. It is even longer i heard if you are to tranefer btw min/sb, can take up to 3 months

Is it the email which asks you the PS card photo? Am waiting for vital to contact me also, pending some approvals but not sure what are those approvals.
