Default Working Culture at SEAB.

Hi all, do you guys have any idea how is the working culture like at SEAB?

I am not talking about the invigilator/examiner roles, but more of the corporate functions like HR, corporate planning, etc.

Been trying to find info but glassdoor doesn't even have a page for the stat board.

I’ve never written thank you emails and still got the jobs I interviewed for in private and public sectors (both in min and SB). Imho such niceties are not important to sg employers and won’t do much for you, good luck.

But I digress, most recently I have applied a role in a SB through my careerfuture portal. I applied around late May 2020. The role is tagged under SGUNITED. Was contacted for interview in early June. Interview was last Wed, 10 June.

During the interview, was told that the hiring process could take up 3-4 weeks and that HR would give me a response by end of next week. To my surprise, I received a response on last Friday, 12 June, saying that they decided to proceed with me and gave me a verbal offer and I accepted. They also said that they will be doing up the paperwork.

As of now, I have not received any updates. I've checked on C@G to see if a similar position is there from the SB and also on mycareersfuture portal but there are none. Currently also there are other offers I received from other employers and needs my response. But I'm very keen on this SB. I'll request an update from HR shortly.

Meanwhile, by this stage, do you think the SB would have seriously considered me and wont offer to other candidate? (I understand that many of you said it's only when I have signed the actual contract then its final). And given the timeline of my interview and now, do you think it's too soon to request an update? Thanks!
went through a similar experience, usually paperwork from SB can take quite long, like ard 2 weeks or more from the date of the verbal offer. if you're anxious, you should check with HR how long till you can sign (if you didn't check when they gave u the verbal offer), and also mention you have other offers that you would like to confidently reject, usually HR will understand and try and help - not really requesting an update but more like a clarification.

usually, quite rare for CS/SB to rescind a verbal offer because they likely have gone through the rounds of approval and started the process of your paperwork, so if they rescind they'll have to do more paperwork to justify.

Sincerely wish those who needs a job, will get a job soon. I myself have been out of employment for quite sometime, have had interviews with Min, SB and private sector for the past weeks. Hopefully will get a response soon, just have to stay positive, because we will get through this together as its temporary. At least thats what I told myself. 💪

Ahh ok thanks thats more reassuring.

UPDATE: I emailed asking for a timeframe by which I can look forward to signing the contract and starting date. The HR said that they are in the midst of seeking required approval and will get back to me by end of next week. They also said they are flexible in the start date.

Does this reply means that I already got the job and now just waiting for procedural sake such as getting approval etc., to sign the contract? Also, as getting approval could take longer than expected, there is another part-time offer that I'm keen to take up before I sign this SB full-time contract. Since that part-time job is flexible and work in the weekends, do I have to resign from it once I take up the SB offer? Because I heard and know that Civil Servants are not allowed to moonlight. But then I understand that working in SB, means you are a public servant. So are public servants also not sparred from moonlighting?

Default Job Application Status

Hello! Would like to hear your opinions/advice on this:

Applied for MSF roles – CWO (5 April) and CPO (10 March) – and both statuses changed to "in process" and "shortlisted" respectively.

For the shortlisted position (CPO), I've completed the written test (8 May) and the interview (20 May). During the interview, I learned that there will not be another round of interview and that my results would be known 2-3 weeks after the interview.

Fast forward to 2nd week (~4 June) after the interview, CWO status was changed to "unsuccessful" while CPS role remained "shortlisted".

My friend said that usually rejections are sent out earlier than acceptance. But...I'm not sure. Should I be worried..........? :-(

In my opinion, I will take it if i am without employment. You may wish to also ask if there are opportunities for permanent opportunities next time too. Good luck!
