It's not fair. I need to organise school level events like the upcoming Children's Day. And help out in Peer Support Leadership. I also need to do after school remedial programme like Math Intervention Programme (Math remedial). I am also required to do a few other major events in my committee such as bringing kids to competitions or doing level wide events.
However, I am only a GEO 4. How come I am doing the job of a GEO5 or SEO1? They only need to say and instruct, I do everything? I would rather be the leader. Say only, people work so hard but they comment this and that to reject the work to say it is not what they wanted. How is this fair? The job is supposed to be SEO 1/2 job. They tasked it down to a GEO4 and kept asking whether this is done and that is done when we are busy with the workload and discipline cases of our form class. They don't even have a form class. They are unloaded in their timetable but a normal GEO4 is not unloaded. Why are they bullying the GEO4 by aksing them to do their jobs for them?
Who can we speak to? It is literally work place bullying and harassment.of the school leader says nothing, who can we escalate to?

This is teaching. And teachers have been complaining about being overworked and overwhelmed with responsibilities beyond their job scope as a teacher.
And you still chose to join, as a mid-careerist. What to do?

Teachers seldom only teach in school.
If you did not do enough research, you deserve what you get.
This is the hard truth.

Did you take a huge pay cut when u join? If yes, then they are trying to make you work harder so that they can promote you faster and then give you your right amount of pay before you join Moe. Unless u ok with just getting the geo4 pay and not looking for them to match your old pay, then u just tell your hod to let you chill.

Depends on the school, you need to ask their Admin manager.

I am a UT. Why is it that staff likes to point out my age and that because of this, I have lots of energy? I never got such comments in my previous workplace. Is it a passive aggressive strategy to remind me that I am a subordinate?

You know it’s mad when even FAJTs leave the school in Sem 1 before school even ended for the hols because of the crazy workload.
A few FAJTs even asked the other teachers including myself how do we manage our time? Because we barely have the time to mark our students work yet the management thinks we have all the time in the world. Don’t get me started on retreats. Are your schools “retreats” as crazy as mine? I.e go to a lovely place to discuss 21CC and ed-tech. 😒😒😒

It shows poor leadership culture in MOE when SLs give expect MMs to come up with novel initiatives each year. MMs are pressurized to come up with things and that is the reason why normal teachers have extra workload being added on each year. Put yourself in the shoe of a HOD. Imagine seeing your peers being proactive with spouting nonsensical ideas, and if you dont do it yourself, you will be ranked lower than your peers.

Yes, you are expected to have unlimited energy.
Your previous workplace did not recognize your full potential.
The strategy is hardly passive.
If anything, it is active aggressive.
There's no need to remind you of your status, you are not above the principal.

You havent seen everything yet.. it is a phase. When i was a BT, i had a bad day with students in the class. Confided it with my mentor. I was gaslighted. Was told it is too early to have any negative emotions. Like i am supposed to smile when a student hurled vulgarities at me?
