I joined as a mid-career.
My peers are already earning so much more than me?
How come the school leaders are still treating me like I am an ordinary teacher who joined with staff with similar years as me?
It's not fair. I need to organise school level events like the upcoming Children's Day. And help out in Peer Support Leadership. I also need to do after school remedial programme like Math Intervention Programme (Math remedial). I am also required to do a few other major events in my committee such as bringing kids to competitions or doing level wide events.
However, I am only a GEO 4. How come I am doing the job of a GEO5 or SEO1? They only need to say and instruct, I do everything? I would rather be the leader. Say only, people work so hard but they comment this and that to reject the work to say it is not what they wanted. How is this fair? The job is supposed to be SEO 1/2 job. They tasked it down to a GEO4 and kept asking whether this is done and that is done when we are busy with the workload and discipline cases of our form class. They don't even have a form class. They are unloaded in their timetable but a normal GEO4 is not unloaded. Why are they bullying the GEO4 by aksing them to do their jobs for them?
Who can we speak to? It is literally work place bullying and harassment.of the school leader says nothing, who can we escalate to?

I dislike organising school events but I remember having to do them even when I was GEO3. None of the work you described are outside of the normal job scope of a teacher.
Err... welcome to MOE, I guess? That's how it is. We can & should push for gradual change to the normal job scope of a teacher, but alleging unfair work allocation is not going to help your case.

Hmmm.. as a GEO3 i also had to do all these kinds of work leh.
Are you just doing as a member of the comm or are you the IC? There's a huge difference in workload and responsibility held between the two. If you are tasked to do these things as a member.. it's all in a day's work for a teacher ah.
Haha hope it gets better with time? Don't keep comparing to other ppl, focus on what's within your control.

I myself am tired from all the insane amount of workload and nonsense that we teachers need to add-on to our lessons as well as all the time-wasting meetings and ridiculous PD sessions. Many of those “meetings” could be emails but no, SLs wanna see our faces. You know it’s mad when even FAJTs leave the school in Sem 1 before school even ended for the hols because of the crazy workload.
A few FAJTs even asked the other teachers including myself how do we manage our time? Because we barely have the time to mark our students work yet the management thinks we have all the time in the world. Don’t get me started on retreats. Are your schools “retreats” as crazy as mine? I.e go to a lovely place to discuss 21CC and ed-tech. 😒😒😒

I don’t think he’s / she’s comparing. Also, we shouldn’t make discount other people’s experiences because honestly, we’ve all been gaslighted into thinking there’s an excess of teachers when now so many of us are literally struggling to stay afloat yet are still being demanded to do more because it’s not enough.

GEO3s are already doing this. You can speak to your RO or SLs if you are not satisfied with how workload is allocated.
