Is all relative bro

If ah boi graduate from SIT/poly grad, average GPA, get into mid tier good liao cos admit it just that not smart lah, get into big 4 even better, consider the best outcome le cos it’s impossible for average performer in the non big 3 uni to get into >5k entry pay in the acctng/finance roles, possible for cs onli since it’s the in demand talent right now

But if ah boi are top performer in nus/ntu/smu, settling in big 4 audit /tax only proves that u only know how to study. No plans for future waste brain cellsand just willing to slve ur youth away earning below mkt pay

If ahboi is aiming for partner right at the start cos think he smart , he better think again lah
Wasting 15 golden years , the chance of u doing public accounting and be partner is as slim as u outside and become a CFO of large company /director in a finance role

LMAO yeah ppl who drink Big 4 kool aid will always say, ignoring hours, ignoring low starting pay, ignoring low entry requirement. Just focus on steady progression, steady increase, chance to make partner with 1m salary etc , it's a great career choice

The odds of making partner are terrible. Many have tried, most have failed. That's why it's called the "odds". The stats don't lie. They are build upon decades' worth of data points of dashed ambitions and wash-outs

U really think u can beat the odds to partnership? Or is it more sensible to cut ur losses n go for path with better odds of better compensation

Progression wise only steady below M lvl now , cos staffs are cheap af , the so-called “progression”is like giving u 1/4 glass of water and keep filling it up slowly until it’s full. While your batch mate in other industry has been getting the full glass right at the start

Based on my observation, a lot of ppl are stacked at M to SM or even senior consultant to M … some department the number of SM/M same number as seniors/staff

Expensive until out priced themselves in the market and nobody wants cos no actual “in the business”experience can’t move up too cos director and partner slots only a few

Rly be getting yourself into dead end nia

Even being partner… The profitability of partnership is way worse now than in early 2000s
That time big 4 is legit a good place to start (according to my aunt) whereby is possible to make partnerships abt 12 years . now with so many mid tiers willing to price cut big 4 offering exactly the same service, the clients legit no care whether is big 4 do or mid tier do whoever offer lower can go ahead. The big players are also trying to cut compliance fees year on year Becos more $$$ are channeled to tech development

Factoring in automation, increased outsourcing to3rd world country … blah blah , imagine 10 years from now, climbing to the mountain top and realise there’s nth worth the climb , sad AF

U dumb or wad. Most ppl here are in Big4 saying how it sucks with poor future prospects and telling others to gtfo asap

The ones who can't make it to Big4, namely those frm no name private uni or Msia Tongkat Ali or Pinoy manila uni , won't be in this forum. To them Big 4 are such prestigious employers, far better than the Ah Seng PAC which normally hire them
