Becoming Harbour Pilot

Serving NS at the moment , comtemplating of diff careers in marine industry.

So I have a place in a local uni but im wondering , if i want to work as a harbour pilot, is it must to take up a diploma in nautical studies from sp? Whats this class of competency thing about and do i have to take up a diploma just to get it? Would i not need to go uni and instead get this coc thing?

Anyone in this industry can help?
