May I know what is the job description/ responsibilities of a Research analyst (GIC Labs) in the Data & Analytics Dept of GIC pls? What area of research does one cover?

Accurate for the investment function. An IT analyst is paid ~30-40% of an Investment Analyst, and the stark distinction between revenue-generating and support/IT-function salaries is the norm across the entire finance sector.

Anyone applied for the GIC GPP programme this year? Any idea when does GIC start conducting the first round interviews?

having interviewed with GIC and talked salary with the recruiter, I can say the glassdoor salary range was quite accurate.

This is quite high. Most IT professionals I know earn less than that.
