What’s the difference between appointment and rank? New to this whole mindef dxo thing… but I kept seeing people mentioning those two terms and so I was wondering what’s the difference and does it make a difference in terms of salary?

Appointment is job title.
Grade is job grade (but commonly used interchangeably with “rank” due to SAF). They are not rank per se - if not NSman working in mindef would have two “ranks”.
Each corresponding grade has an appointment - asst mgr = dx9; mgr = dx10, snr mgr = dx11 so on..

Ah I see, ok thanks! Then can I also ask what does UNIT means? Like does it mean your department/agency/directorate (Eg. DPO)…Or it means other stuff?

It can mean what you listed including the other stuff.
It is obvious that you are not familiar with Mindef.
But it is hokay, Mindef is the biggest ministry.

Saw some people state that they are ‘officer’ (eg policy officer). This also consider appointment?
