Default Salary hike when switching job

Hi All,

I am on my first job after I graduated from NTU. It has been 3 yrs now and I am planning to look for other opportunities.

Can I know what is the salary increment that I should expect when I switch from one job to another?

Thanks

how much is your last monthly salary ?
how much is your last annual salary?

Ask for 20% increment in the annual salary!!

20% is too low.
And don't ask for just one figure.
Ask for a range. 40% to 50%.

I usually try to double my last drawn annual pay. No double no quit.

Take advantage of the super buoyant job market now.

I am not sure if there is the place to pose this question since this is a forum about salary.

Would anyone here believe in career prospects?

If someone keeps his or her course, does a good job, works well with colleagues, this person will be promoted and compensation will follow suit.

Maybe I am idealistic but would you work for career prospects for the long term or just short term monetary gains?

sorry dude, i don't think you shd "DEMAND" the pay when you're coming to singapore to work. whatever you're going to receive here is definitely better than what you're receiving in pakistan. take it or leave it.

There are some silly replies... so decided to help be a more reasonable post.

1. 3 years - Depends on where you are changing field. if you switch from eng to finance, maybe staying in the same pay range is acceptable for switch. Dont believe anyone will pay much more.

2. If staying in same field, analyse annual package and growth opportunities in your new job.

Eg, eng in a sme vs eng in an oil company.

Same "basic" monthly pay, but different annual pay and growth opportunities.

Standand practice is to ask for 10-20% annual pay increase, but have a good answer to the question "Why do you think we should give you this xxx increase over your current pay" by interviewer

A good answer will secure it.
