I was wondering if I quit my job (in ministry) and reapply to another ministry, does that mean the new ministry will recalculate my compensation package based on my experience and education credentials (as oppose to pegging it back to my current level if I transferred)?

Well, I believe I hv done much more work or even same kinda work as those who were promoted with higher pay. So don't know what they are complaining abt. One of my col who gt default promo long ago commented 'it's Gd that at least ur gt promoted for ur hard work'. Those who gt default promo somehow had the thinking that I was lucky to get my promo before my 'default' year. Actually there's no more default promo now as everyone hv to work for it if they want promo.
CEP matters alot. If yours is low, then how many times can big boss promote you before you retire. If you disagree with the given CEP, it will be hard feel contended working there.

Hi All,

I just rejected the offer from stats board...

I am from private sector IT, got offer from stats board last week.
I like the job scope but it required me to take pay cut of 1.3k

Do you think is worth it to take the job ? Job agent told me stats board annual package 16 months... but is lesser than my current pay 1 to 2k

Difference in stat board and gov agencies is that you often get things like half day for events, or few hours earlier off a week for some of your own family like 'eat with family day', it's like SAF, lots of time off here and there for events & stuff. SAF day half-day go celebrate etc.

As long as you don't screw up, you can work there forever with the same bonuses yearly.

For private, you don't get much 'off time' for company events or half-days etc.

but if u r those who think ur on the road to 400-600k type then of course pte sector better. but reality is also that most ppl in pte sector end up even lower than a stagnated civil servant, not to mention getting terminated when they are older.

up to u really.
Just chance upon this thread. I think to clarify, AD package may not always be in the range of 100-140k. (unless you are scholar/high flyer) Becos my cousin just got an offer in the PS for an AD position. (10years work experience, local degree). Not even near to the above mentioned range. Monthly gross only sub 5k. (so the collated information somewhere in this forum that mentions AD as high 7000+ to 8000+ per month is not always true)

This is further fueled by the large statistics of unemployed local pmets that has joined this pool of job hunters thereby diluting the bargaining power of the candidates.

So for those who think AD position are highly paid are not exactly right. But I do agree at this economic climate, you might not even get a job in the private sector due to the tight job market.

Your cousin joined at the minimum end of AD as a relatively youngster with only 10 years work exp. What the discussion is about is the stagnation at AD level which means you will end your career at the high end of AD which is 7-8k.

You are confusing the issue here.

Wonder why there are readers who could be easily confused, read with no understanding; hear without listening. Yes don't deviate or pass sweeping statements. It's not cool anymore in this social media age. We are talking about media literacy / questioning authencity of info.
