Since having a good mentor is important, any snrs can give advice on that? Are 'mentors' during internships important too? Any way to request a specific mentor for training contracts?

Anyone heard of ECYT Law? My friend got offered a TC there but I heard the firm does a lot of gimmicky stuff like ICO.

ICOs aren't gimmicky. Don't trash something you don't know about.
Whether they're sustainable or will be heavily regulated is another thing.
For lawyers, they're an exciting new frontier especially if you're hoping to build a practice in the fintech space based on your existing ECM / DCM practice.
Many of the top law firms like MC firms, Latham, Cooley and WSGR are already well in the ICO or blockchain/crypto space.
