not as many go to US for LLB as compared to UK and down under given the rather different legal system. LLM probably more.

harvard, columbia, nyu: these are excellent law schools if you can get into them. brown doesn't have a law school. the last recognised US law school is UMich (for some straaaange reason)
US legal education is post-grad, so thats why very few if any singaporeans go there to study law. it takes too long and it is way more expensive to acquire a JD because an undergraduate degree is needed first --> total cost by the end of one;s education culminating in a JD can amount to nearly usd 300,000+ however, going for an LLM is not uncommon

˄ i'm the poster above
furthermore i doubt they take in many international students as it is already very tough for locals to get into. applicants must also take the LSATs

i had always though of entering US law, maybe they seem more prestigious to me. i mean with the tag of "ivy league" on them, who wouldnt be drawn to them?
but after seeing all the comments on this thread, it appears that the most viable option of becoming a lawyer and earning top dollar would be to go to NUS.

Sure but you'll be toying with luck and trust me, the golden era is gone.... ie. before the Lehman saga and when the list of approved overseas Uni were limited to an "elite" 15 in uk. Although if you are already a somebody or know some big shots, you'll get in any of the Big 4 even with a 3rd.

im from SMU and i think your advice holds true here as well. the 3.5s (which corresponds to a good 2nd upper, ~35% and up) and above are already getting TCs from big4 firms (firm offers from the only one thats open, and soft offers from the other 3). the 3.4s and below are scrambling for the mid firms where the competition is particularly tough
