I was once the so called high flyer among my peers, interned at Buldge Bracket companies, with all the fancy CCA stuff. But that was years ago..
But when banks dumps you, when you CCA title ends, it's time for me to think about my career. After all not everyone can be high flyers forever. Even if u inside bb such as JPM or Goldman, you still have a chance of being sacked.
I think it's best to have a prospect job in a prospect company.
But I think right now I can only choose one of it.

Interesting story. Were you one of those guys flying high earning $13k / month by age 28 but had to settled for a job that pays less when you lost your job? I only say because you said "banks dump you"?
Don't mind me asking? How you cope? I heard of stories that once you earn that much, you probable will NEVER work at 50% of what you were paid before, even if that means remaining jobless.

It depends, say if you are 22 years old now and you join in a BB in a MAP program, in 3 years you will be associate and 2 years later you will be senior associate (some banks call associate II). I think by age 28 you will be a kind of middle between associate II and AVP.
Paywise, local bank low salary but with bonus and insentive plan. That can stack quite a lot! Foreign banks giant pay but not much bonus. I worked in BB so I can safely estimate if you will get S$ 10,000 to S$12,000 per month when you turn 30 and fortunately you are not sacked.
I think bank people may have the pride that they are bankers and I agree that they are reluctant to work for 50% less(nobody is willing to work for 50% less, right?)
But don't worry for them, they are definitely best of the best. Even if they are sacked, there will be numerous headhunters chasing them to offer them another big bucks.
A little sharing from a fresh grad. haha

Thanks for sharing. But what I was getting at is the banker earning $10k - $13k when he's late 20's AND got sacked. Say market forces, one massive bad trade.
Then finance in the doldrums, like Asian equities just aren't traded, this guy could probably NOT find a job that paid that much in the next year plus. How long are market cycles right?
They also won't take a 50% cut for his next job which probably isn't banking. If he does, he unhappy everyday.
Compare this with someone say making $7k, got fired, but then took a job for $6k. It's psychological but this guy won't be affected that badly because he isn't taking that big of a discount.

What's all this talk about making >$10k after 5 years when you haven't even start work?
Focus on the job you like and just go in and learn. Keep talking about big picture like semicon industry, banking or some obscure goal of wanting to make $X after X years is simply unproductive and not going to help you in anyway.
Focus on learning and networking and take all the salaries quoted here with a pinch of salt. They are like top 5% and definitely not a good way to look at things when you haven't even got 1 day of work experience.

I have a Malay friend got transfer to.China and got prompted. Please kindly verify it.
For the contractor, may I know what is system integrator? The manager told.me I will be a web master which deal with paper work and minutes of meeting which I thought no progression.
Cyber wise, yes it's gonna be tough and tough as hell. I tool related courses in my degree and I did cyber project also.Exammine thousands of lines of code is not funny. Get certed is also mentaly tough as well. But I think my friends in BB companies are also fighting to be the best.
Hope you can answer these questions:
1) Will semicon move their engineers to China and if so will engineers be prompted?
2) What is system integrator? Is it some role with paper work and book meeting rooms?
Thanks.

Yes, they will move their engineers to China and they will be prompted.
A webmaster need to do paperwork and writing minutes. This sounds exactly like a junior marketing executive job. Hello, please change the image on this website. Then you click click click on the CMS. You can look up systems integrator on wikipedia, but really, being a systems integrator or working in a systems integrator company in Singapore is the lowest end job.
