I work for some GLC for years, with a degree and now I'm somewhere in the principal Engineer phase making around 6k+ with the usual government linked bonus and PB.
Recently I went out with a group of guys and one of them is a diploma holder slightly older than me in a principal Engineer role as well. I accidentally saw his letter of employment while he was packing his stuffs, he was trying to apply for his wife's citizenship so I know that letter is recent. And I was shocked to see that his basic is 8.4k and his taxable income last year was about 120k
How do these diploma holder engineers get this type of pay? I know he works in MNC but the gap is really shocking. What's the point of us spending that 4 years taking that engineering degree for?

There are many components in the salary. For example, years of experience, industry, domestic/regional/global coverage, special skill sets in a niche market etc.
Out of curiosity, are you from local U, how many years of working experience.
And back to diploma question, there are always outliers and there are people with lesser education level earning more than you but is minority.

The document was probably fake.
No one leaves such docs for others to discover.
The intent is to mislead and cause people to resign out of anger.

Did you make a mistake? Diploma holders getting that kind of pay is impossible. At most 4k for diploma holders.

Just to wake those MNC folks up. In a GLC, given 'Engineer A' Diploma holder with 15 years experience, well liked by colleagues, bosses and customers. Very capable with loads of good track records, successful projects and products. Brought in 10 million dollars revenue last year. Many people feel that he's the best leader in their department
Given 'Engineer B' Degree holder, not well liked, toxic employee. Poor work attendance, like to throw MC and is frequently late for work. Not capable, sometimes don't know what's he doing.
Who do you think will promote to become the next Project manager?

Engineer B
How can diploma holder be manager?
Your performance is not important, the paper qualification is.

this clown confirm upper management in GLC or statboard.
real life doesn't work the way your parents told you, get degree means can become manager or boss. real life is about delivering results and being easy to work with. pte companies need to face reality everyday called profit and loss. unlike statboard which dont have such realities to contend with.

What's the point of having a degree? In your logic, diploma holders can become managers and principal engineers. Then what's the point of getting a degree? You are the real clown. I don't understand how those MNC can survive with your logic.
