Certs/degree etc are not even close to consider for someone to be a Subject Matter Expert.(SME).
Problem solving skills, curiosity, learning ability and work ethic are the major qualities for an engineer to be one. Sadly, very very few people possess them and these qualities cannot be taught.

Salary for Traffic Engineer/ Transport Planner
I'm a master's graduate in Transport Engineering (top 50 uni) with 3 years exp in Sg (overall 4 years).
what is the ideal salary range for someone like me?
Is 5 day (consultant)/ 5.5 days (contractor) pay would be different or is similar?

Sounds like some Taiwanese engineer cum conman.
Then they use empty water bottles to fill up their foundations.
After so many years, still no dip or degree.

Just received PEb email: Dear All
I refer to the PPE 2024 result notification dated 4 Dec 2024.
Please disregard the result letter you have received last week as there is a mistake on date of result, should be 28 Nov 2024 instead of 28 Aug 2024. We will be mailing you the new letter with the correct date of result.
My apologies for the confusion I may have caused with the letter sent last week.
Thank you.

PE results came out yesterday! Passed my interview on the first try. Was a 30 mins chit chat session, honestly i felt it is the easiest part of the entire process.
Didn't know any of the interviewers but they are pretty friendly. They mainly asked questions about certain views or decisions written in the report, trying to hear you explaining your logic behind them.
All the best to aspiring PEs.

Maybe this has been discussed to death already but I still find this hilarious.
I work for some GLC for years, with a degree and now I'm somewhere in the principal Engineer phase making around 6k+ with the usual government linked bonus and PB.
Recently I went out with a group of guys and one of them is a diploma holder slightly older than me in a principal Engineer role as well. I accidentally saw his letter of employment while he was packing his stuffs, he was trying to apply for his wife's citizenship so I know that letter is recent. And I was shocked to see that his basic is 8.4k and his taxable income last year was about 120k
How do these diploma holder engineers get this type of pay? I know he works in MNC but the gap is really shocking. What's the point of us spending that 4 years taking that engineering degree for?
