DBS will have layoffs? I thought they're the most stable local bank.

senior associate is not above 7.2k also, need to see whats ur starting salary first before the bump.

because there are lots of associates in dbs earning 5k+

to qualify for promotion, u must get either AT rating or hit their criteria ( 2+ years as associate + have degree + at least OT1 rating )

AT means above target, OT means on target, BT is below target.

so if u get AT1 or AT2 as associate, confirm will bump u to senior associate, but your pay will go from 5k+ to 6-7k only, won't go higher than associate ceiling which is 7.2k because their promotion is based on your starting salary + pay bump % + title change %.
how much salary incre generally when promote from assoc to senior assoc?

dbs pay increment is about 5-8% for average people

title bump pay increase is an additional 10%

so if u get pay inc + title bump = 15-18% total

if u are at 6k a month as associate, 6k * 15% is 6.9k

It's happened before during the 2008 crisis.

thanks for sharing, but are you sure you are not bs-ing though? 6.9k sounds awfully low for a snr assoc with at least 5 yrs exp. besides, once someone is promoted to a snr assoc, the pay increment per year is another 5-8 % until another idk maybe 2-3 years before promoting to avp with another 10% bump??

Not the guy you are quoting but I work in DBS,

I was part of the DBS SEED program, if you're not aware, it's a tech program, basically everyone in it are "Analyst" equivalent and we get 5.5k in our first year and 6k+ in our second year. Bonus every year is 16k.

Last time there was a big meeting about this, perms found out about SEEDer pay and was complaining how it was unfair. Turns out, a lot of SAs were getting 6-7k and doing 3x the work of SEEDers.

So what that guy say is true but ONLY for DBS T&O BACK-OFFICE side, SA payband is 6-9k for BO functions which means you can definitely start at 6k depending on how low your previous pay was as an Associate.

Also promotions are not based on years of tenure, there are many SAs who are still SAs after 5-6 years. If I recall, the criteria is that you need to get AT1 or AT2 rating after you hit the required YOE for AVP which is 5 years.

Sounds like A to SA is about 2 to 3 years, SA to AVP about 4 to 5 years.

Then AVP to VP takes how many years? Are there many AVP bands?

Yup you're right, A to SA is about 2-3 years, faster if you get AT rating or land in HIPO programs.

This guy is a ex-SEEDer, https://sg.linkedin.com/in/yeoenghaijasper
But he got promoted every year after getting Associate because he's in HIPO program and heresay, he's always getting AT rating. This guy is quite famous in DBS, same for 30+ other EX-seeders who can hit SEEDer to VP within 6 years.

So it really depends. If you can land in HIPO program ( fast tracked program but you need AT rating to even be nominated ), you can expect promotions every year.

This means you can go from AVP to VP in 1 year also. I wouldn't be surprised if that guy I linked becomes VP after March this year. For the average people, AVP to VP, probably 5+ years if every year you get OT rating. If you get at least 1 AT rating, maybe 2-3 years.

Key is that you need to get AT rating to even qualify for promotion. Some after 10 years, still AVP.

If after 10 years still AVP, might as well jump to another bank for VP.
