Yup you're right, A to SA is about 2-3 years, faster if you get AT rating or land in HIPO programs.

But he got promoted every year after getting Associate because he's in HIPO program and heresay, he's always getting AT rating. This guy is quite famous in DBS, same for 30+ other EX-seeders who can hit SEEDer to VP within 6 years.
So it really depends. If you can land in HIPO program ( fast tracked program but you need AT rating to even be nominated ), you can expect promotions every year.
This means you can go from AVP to VP in 1 year also. I wouldn't be surprised if that guy I linked becomes VP after March this year. For the average people, AVP to VP, probably 5+ years if every year you get OT rating. If you get at least 1 AT rating, maybe 2-3 years.
Key is that you need to get AT rating to even qualify for promotion. Some after 10 years, still AVP.
