Nah. Believe it or not, local bank FO is actually easier. Just do a simple search online.

You are talking about GS/JPM? Perhaps a few, same can be said for direct hires in local bank FO as well tbf. But you can hardly find any non-local uni in BB ops grad programme. There are quite a handful of 1:1s per intake too. GS ops now pay 5k/mth with 3 mths bonus for ops grad fyi

Yup can confirm. Currently GS MO, joined last year. 5k/mth. Honestly not that hard to enter since GS has been hiring aggressively if you all browse mcf and linkedin. My degree not even relevant. Was from ntu engineering and working in b4. Anyhow spammed application and they somehow took me in.When i first entered i didn't even know the difference between FO MO BO. But after working 2 months i realised my job is mundane af. Thought maybe if I took cfa got better chance of getting into FO, but now don't even think i can pass cfa level 1 haha.

Whether easier to enter or not, long term prospect of local bank FO definitely better than BB ops

Definitely agree with you. I was from GS ops and sharing what I know.
GS ops offer 5k/month because it's hard to attract talents into ops. GS have been facing extremely high turnover rate for grad hires in ops and thus they believe that by bumping up the salary, they can reduce this turnover rate. 3 month bonus is only for this year where across all banks, bonuses have been high. GS is also readjusting rates and it is a one-time thing only. On average, expect to work more than 10 hours in GS ops, obtain a not bad base salary and a 1 month bonus max on normal years.

May I know where did you exit gs ops to? Are you still doing ops? So on average ops bonus only 1 mth? including middle office ops?
