So what if other seniors have too been through the same situation, I could see the associates in my firm treated like dogs. Rushed lunch, everyday filled with anxiety, get scolded, stayed late. Very soon they reached 30s they didn’t settle down, just more white hair, single, and cannot find a spouse to settle down with. Money wise, I do not think they are making a lot per hour.
If I stayed I will just be more depressed and unhappy and cannot sleep peacefully everyday.
Once I leave, I still can get a job and move on in life with an in house role or a legal related role without the need to get called.
Plus going private practice route is not the only way to get called. You just need to open your eyes more and talking to people.

Isn’t Agc interview season over?
Which other ministry have openings at this moment and still can get called?

there are only two ways to get called

Hey guys can I ask how important it is to have a first class honours and to be on the commendation list for part b? It seems that people who have both tend to go to high-paying firms like CC and Baker

Very important for bakers to have FCH / Part B. If you have FCH/Summa sometimes might not get retained if you happen to be in a department that is full. That’s when you need the part b which will come in handy.
Not that important for CC. Quite a couple of NUS 2:1 in CC.

Yeah these days, barring connections, bakers tend to be more academically selective as compared to CC.

Doubtful of that - just have a look at the number of foreign uni grads there with their 2nd and 3rd tier degrees

Okay then try to get in without connections with your NUS 2:1 or 2:2 and cum laude and below. And let us know how it goes

I am 2:2 NUS and I am in CC.
Crossed over from Big4 immediately right after called.
Did alright for Part B, no distinction.
Once you start tc, it is how you work and build connections. Academics can only bring you to the door.
The department and its headcount is the number one factor to determine retention.
