Thank you.
if you mean Hong Leong Finance,
1) medical care is standard, no co payment at all. if you visit non selected clinic, bring receipt and claim in full
2) around 21 days leave, need to clear block leave
3)13th month bonus + VB

Seriously recommend taking a private degree and moving out of the clerical rank structure. Also Japanese bank is not the best of places to start a banking career. Recommend taking degree after joining and moving out after finishing degree. Can join again when you are mid career.

For the AIBD guy yeah i think $3k is definitely fine and you should be able to learn quite alot whichever part of AIBD you join.

Was from the bank as a special grade clerk. Work is pretty standard, learning the operations side like trade services, deposit, loans, remittances and treasury but with a lot of procedures which will make your work tedious. Starting pay for guys is 2k and for ladies is 1.9k(100 dollars difference is because of NS for guys). Increment for operations is roughly about 3% a year which translates about 60 dollars, which is also determined by your work performance. I have heard of people getting only 11 dollars for their increment. Best is get a degree and then move on. Best not to stay beyond two years.

Hi,

I would like to ask has anyone work in Mizuho bank before? Especially in IT support department for trading floor.

I would like to ask:

1. What is the working hours like? Is it 8.30am to 5pm too as mentioned here.

2. How would be the bonus like? Also 3 to 6 months for a Senior Officer?

3. Is there any work life balance in Mizuho bank culture? Seems like SMBC has the best as mentioned in the previous post.

Thanks for any feedback.

1- 8.30am to 5pm, punctuality is very important
2- depending on business unit and performance of the individual business unit
3- work life balance is generally not bad, far better than US or European bank

If you want to advance your career in IT, i would highly recommend you join a foreign bank with a very good IT infrastructure. mizuho has systems from a dinosaur age is bureaucratic and hierarchical, takes ages to implement any thing. A retirement job more than anything.

when does smbc pay out their bonus? in June ?

Do they calculate based on the financial year April to Mar for June's bonus payout or Jan to Dec? ~~

Does anyone knows how is the bonus in operations like?
Is SMBC a good place to join as AM for ops?

Thank you for helping~~

I was with MUFJ for a few months, really cannot take it. Very slow paced, and most people there are just hanging around waiting to retire. Pay and promotion prospect very very slow, definitely not recommended for anyone below 40 who still want to make a career in banking.

Smile Please advise on decision for BB ops vs BTMU 'FO' role

Hi guys,

I am a fresh local uni grad here. Based on the culture, pace and learning opportunities, could you all please provide some feedback if a switch from my current operations analyst role in a bulge bracket bank to a 'FO' role in BTMU is advisable?

The compensation package is much lower than what I am drawing as an ops analyst but the description of job scope during interview sort of interest me as it is more dynamic and matches my personality and interest better. However, the replies in this thread sort of place BTMU as a less than ideal place to start off for a fresh grad regardless of the role and division.

Therefore, I hope to receive some input from the experienced professionals who have any information or worked there previously. Thank you all in advance and any input is appreciated!

Japanese banks is not a good place for fresh grads to start cos you end up getting to focused on procedures and processes instead of doing anything meaningful.

If the overall compensation package is higher then what you are drawing in a bulge bracket bank then maybe can still consider. But lousier package?!? some more is FO position ?! seriously need to think again.

If I remember correctly, FO in BTMU does not provide commission.

Talking GM BTMU interview

Hello people,

I have just received a call from my recruiter yesterday to attend an officer role interview session with the global market division of BTMU. Can anyone with knowledge kindly share on the interview process and if the bank and mentioned division offers good prospect and learning for me to progress within or with other banks in future?

Local grad here with over 1 yr working experience in compliance function of a local bank and looking for a change in career path since I do not really enjoy the work and pay isn't really commendable. Hope to gather some feedback soon!
