Does anyone know how long g50 checks typically take?

It's been over 4 weeks and according to HR they are quite worried. In my military NS days I used to have quite a high clearance so it's a little unsettling.

HR said it should only typically take about 2 weeks.

At this point, they had given me an verbal offer over 5 weeks ago which I've accepted even after I indicated I had lots of other offers already.

Should I start going for interviews again?

Does going to a medical check-up equate to the high chance of being offered if the medical check-up turns up fine?

Thx^_^

I've been asked to submit my resignation first before signing thr employment contract. Was told that this is a sop of the SB. I'm moving over from Ministry. Is it normal for SB to do this?

Which SB is this? This cannot be confidential since they must be asking everyone to do the same thing if they asked you to do it.

Fact of the matter is there's no SOP for this so long as you resign from your ministry before you commence employment at the SB.

I'm offered a perm position but comes with 1 year contract at the start (also subjected to renewal). Is this the norm for perm position in CS? It feels as though I'm hired as a contact staff instead....

It's the norm to be two years contract. Yours - one-is not.

yes you should, in fact, continue to attend interviews until you have signed the employment contract. G50 checks can be prolonged due to numerous reasons which we will most likely never come to know. does your verbal offer comprise the annual package and other terms of employment, or is it just a neutral "we are keen to proceed further"?

are your benefits on par with that of a perm position? if so, the 1-year contract is probably due to headcount as well as an extended probation...
