What sort of experience do you have previously? For general admin like payroll, leave & benefit, contracts drafting etc there is no need to waste money on cert, but you need to be comfortable with numbers & excel.

Generally companies do not groom mid-career C&B specialist as this is considered a high flyer job reserved either for management trainees, hi-pos or people with few years experience in management consultancy.

As for C&B specs there is little value in HR certs, finance related ones like a good Masters in Applied Finance or CFA/CIPM will help much more though not compulsory.

For assistant level it doesn't really matter which company you join, the work should be 90% similar over the industries.

Im 30 and was with military doing Ops. Nothing transferable. Am Willing to start from scratch but have always been mindful with prospects. I have an arts majoring in economics degree and am comfortable with numbers.

I'm intending to start a career in HR and willing to work hard. But I also want to be certain that my plan is somewhat correct and there is potential in HR. I don want to end up 2 years later just to realise I got it wrong. Just wanna maximise the chances to build a life long career. And of cos as an ambition, I want to try to achieve to become a director in long run. But I understand that it takes alot of hardwork, luck and time & space etc.

For a start, I'm looking for an entry level job.

Any advices are appreciated. Thanks peeps.

Default non-cash Benefits

Dear HR professionals,

I am currently doing a HR-related project which requires me to find out more about the non-cash benefits that various companies/industries provide.

More specifically, I would like to know more about the following areas:

- Fringe benefits
-Meal and Food Allowances
-Gift provided by employers to large number of employees regardless of individual performance
-Non cash incentives/ recognition provided to employees according to the individual/ team performance. (eg. vouchers, holiday trips etc)
-Childcare benefits (subsidizing childcare fees/ companies tie up with childcare centre to provide childcare services)

thanks for any HR professional who is willing to help

Try to avoid anything to do with HR ops, long hours and low pay... Better to go for a specialist role.

What are the chances that Co. will take in fresh grad with couple of HR internships into specialize role?
But currently working in Ops and handling ASEAN benefits (Compensation & Benefits) projects with a Global MNC, will it be easier with the brand name to move into Comp and Ben or even BP after one year experience in this post.
Please advise, currently at a cross junction about the prospects.
