I’m probably a typical MOE teacher (PGDE grad): Spent 4+ years in GEO 3, with mostly C+ and C…just promoted to GEO 4.
Going to try for SH position in OP!

I am very disappointed that my colleague who came in at the same time got promoted to seo1 before me. I am certain that she is not a kid career switch. She is covering the hod, but yet to be appointed while I have already been a head for two years.

It is a myth. In my school, a few of teachers are from the same batch.
A is an appointed KP, B is an appointed ST with CEP at SEO 2, C is an ordinary teacher without any position but with CEP just raised to SEO 1 last year. Guess who got promoted first? C

Possibility for hidden layers like scholar status or even education that, maybe a hidden formula other than cep even. I mean, how many variances can there be for cep? Like either p6 / p7 for most, so Something else has to be the distinguishing factor but it is hidden from us. We know never know or find out anyway

Well, think of it as your colleague SH aldy reached the max for SH, while u haven’t.
(We don’t know the cep of your colleague. Maybe aldy maxed out leh?)

I know, but it is just the uncertainty that threw me off. The perf grades did not translate to promotion and it is hard not to have self-doubt. I am not a scholar and I have certainly gave my best when it comes to work to be where I am today. The cold fact that qualification matters is an obstacle for farmers like me. Being in the ranking panel has also opened up my view to how cep is reviewed, and it made me questioned how mine is handled.

Yes, it is just that few, yet it remains a mystery since the beginning of universe. This is not the place for farmers for certain, and one got to learn to deal with reality.

Your colleague probably has a higher CEP than you. Promotion is dependent on your CEP, proven ability to take on a higher position, availability of the higher post. If you have been holding the HOD post for 2 years, getting A and B grades but still not promoted, it just means you are doing your job really well but your bosses don’t think you are ready for a higher post, and/or there’s no opening.
