1) Pay is high but it’s not stable.
2) Tougher to set new papers and qns (Gone is the era when students would need tutors to provide prelim papers from other schools).
3) Tuition centre offers better pricing for students. Students may opt for going to two tuition centres for their notes rather than stick with one tutor.
4) Change in syllabus and marking methods (tutors may be outdated after a few years).

VP starting minimally is 9.5k at least. No max from here on cause depends on your super scale grade already.
But one thing is for sure. The pay and stress not proportional. VP and P, medium power high stress, but the pay doesn’t justifies it. So you decide yourself which is more important. Work life balance or work place power.

Held back for a sem
After open posting, has anyone been held back for a semester before joining new workplace? Usually it’s school needs, but having experienced it, I am feeling that it’s really selfish act. When someone wants to leave, why do they hold back? The manpower need is not very dire and it didn’t seem like I am really needed to stay. Wouldn’t the performance ranking be affected also since it will be a default grade for the year of switch?

Hi, it is not a default grade for the year of the switch. For year end performance appraisal, the receiving school will ask the previous school of their appraisal of the officer with a recommended grade for the first half of the year and balance that with the performance of the officer in the second half of the year. Hope it clarifies.

I handed my resignation letter to my RO today. Was called to P office. Told the school cant accept my letter as it would mean me leaving in late May (1 month notice period). I was told MOE could sue me. Is this true? I have finished my bond already. Am I only allowed to leave in december?

Not true at all. But you might burn bridges. Allegedly, they could also comment on your re-employability. I have friends who left midterm but they found it hard to return as an FAJT after two-three years.

Some Ps like to use fear to get officers to toe the line. It is usually the older ones (60s)..
