Those who got promoted to G4 this year are empirically better off than those who got their G4 last year, due to the cap of 5% for G4 during 2023 H2's salary revision.
My colleague entered service 1 year later than me, very similar path and progression, (though I was actually ahead in terms of salary based on years in service before the revision) just attained G4 in 2023 (MI+PI close to 600). I managed to get G4 in 2022 (MI+PI <400, very close to previous G3 cap) before the revision, and now in 2023 there is less than 30 difference between us. I am now 1 year behind in terms of career, though my performance grades have been equal or better.
Yes, I know I sound like I am nitpicking or calling sour grapes, but I am just listing the facts without any emotions above.
