Dude dont bother explaining to auditors. They think their work is hard cause they cant do anything else. If they good enough to go banking/consulting they wont be there. When i interned at the big 4, the diploma holders were doing the same thing as degree holders.

So long as you don't screw up and willing to put in the long hours, an average performer will be able to reach manager rank by the 5th year. First year manager in audit = S$6K base pay per month.
I left in Feb this year (after 3 years+ in audit) because I couldn't tank the long hours and got a better offer elsewhere. But the reality is one CAN become manager within 5 years and many have done so. No doubt there are some people who retained (mostly the Malaysians) because they aren't willing to put in the hours / technically weak. But on average, most can do so within 5 years.

Again, the average time it takes to make manager in Big 4 is definitely more than 5 years.
Good for you though, making mgr with 5 years of exp earning 6k (given the brutal hours) is not that fantastic.

Nope. The structure in Big 4 is pretty rigid (that I don’t deny). It takes 5 years to reach managerial level.
Year 1-2: Associate
Year 3-4: Senior Associate
Year 5: Assistant Manager - this is the most critical year. Yes, some don’t make it and get retained (especially the Malaysians who’re less technically strong) but on average people do make it.
On the 6th year will be Manager. Don’t tell me you can’t do simple math to understand that based on this typical timeline, one will only require 5 years to reach Managerial level. If you still don’t understand then I’m not sure how you can claim you’re on a higher level than auditors. Lolol and nobody (including the big 4 auditors themselves) is denying that work life balance is **** in the Big 4.
What people are trying to correct (against your misleading info) is the number of years required to reach M.
