Can someone enlighten me why do higher ups die die insist on working from clients place? If all supporting documents will be provided in softcopies and whatever queries can be exchange through emails, why do we still need to show up face to face? The time taken for transport and chitchats with the team could have already given me ample time to come up with a completed working paper.

The client needs to feel like they're getting what they paid for la. You will understand this when u become partner.

Imagine u hire a maid. If you never see her working even though the house is gradually getting cleaner, u will still feel like she's not putting in full effort for your money's worth. But if you see her constantly busy cleaning scrubbing mopping right in front of you, you will think that she's super hardworking and you got a very good deal.

Exactly. Thats why I mentioned that fresh grad these days are not as mature compared to the ones 20 years ago. Nowadays, first thing come to mind to fresh grads is only instant gratification and they do not know that such a misstep could have a detrimental impact to them.

Advice to fresh grads, follow instructions and do not complain. Work harder during peak. Efforts and sacrifices made for big 4 will eventually pay off 10 years down the road

Dont listen to those loser asking u go face to face with client means work hard. M here, reason is that the fee is based on time charge. Each of u minions cost smth per hour. Nobody care what you do as long you show face and clock the time.

Having staff not at client place also dont reflect well on the team. Means u all too free. Old monkies love u ppl at client place to add value when in fact, auditing is a bullshyt job. Ppl only interested in clocking the time and get the fs signed. Ur work dont matter, in fact no ppl will review the awp during peak. Some of those jhk mgr transfered here dont even know ssa or frs.. ffs.. audit quality at its best. Go read some acra report on AQI.

This is a conventional piece of advice which has its merit. However in todays rising living costs, this advice somehow got lost. Auditors do not make good money in the short to medium term bankers do.
