She joined as Conveyancing Officer Grade 3 (actually Snr Div 3 post) in 1990s
Now , how old is she?
50s, still hold ''managerial post''
Being a junior supervisor post like Warrant Officer, at 50 year old. Nothing to be proud about.
When you first joined Land Titles Registry as ''Snr Executive'' . you have to focus on long term On the Job Training, where you learn how to do conveyancing work.
After few years, you will be sent to another section where you learn.
After few job rotations, spanning 15 years , you will be considered for promotion to Asst Manager..
If you are deemed to be learned and experienced, you will promoted to Manager at age of late forty, then you train new staff to do conveyancing work.
My female friend work there at age 24 , now she is "Head'' at 45 year old..

Do you feel proud?
Nothing to be proud about.
When you have very good professional degree, you don't work there . You will be post to better department (Finance, IT, HR,Legal, etc) where your career advancement is better
If you have LLB (Hons) degree from recognised university, you will be part of management team in Land Titles Registry, very much superior to those still learning how to do conveyancing work. You will be overseeing those old supervisors (trainers)

Do you know current Registrar of Titles? when he first joined Registry of Titles at the age of 27, after graduating with LLB (Hons ) . Now , he is Asst Chief EXecutive at the age of 52..
Very impressive right?
Sounds like typical civil service jobs.

In fact, it is very impressive compared to pte sector companies.
They still keep the older people in service.

If you are looking at payouts, do join a private sector will be a preferred choice for your case. Stat board doesn't pay well, unless you are deemed to have obtained a recognized degree with a good honours. Based on what I have known, a directorial post payout in statboard like SLA, annual compensation is around $200-$300K, whereas, a typical Private SME/Corporate, directorial level are paid $500K-$1mil+ or more.

Depends on what you want in life. Some are contented to just settle in stat boards. Easy life, do not need to look into dollar and cent.

Hi, I (31F) recently had a choice of choosing between two jobs - a public service job in SLA, and a job in a REIT for a developer (internal transfer).

I wanted to challenge myself, as the job with the developer involve aspects of RE investments. The public service job also involved ~ a 11% pay cut. For context, I was applying for jobs due to restructuring in my old unit, so I can't go back.

Now I am regretting after 3 months - I thought I could handle the massive amounts of OT (expectation within the team due to the job nature), and I am already seeing a big skill gap (Real Estate degree which isn't that sought after) and that perhaps I do not have such high stress tolerance. I get hit by anxiety and a constant sinking in my chest, and I haven't even really been exposed to the full workload. I feel so stupid for rejecting the stable option in this economy.

Can I still apply to SLA/ public sector again after rejecting the job? Has anyone done that before and was accepted? Should I tough it out? Thanks for reading my post.

EDIT: My previous job role didn't give me much valuable experience (business was doing badly & more of survival mode). I had a really hard time finding a replacement job then...and scrolling LinkedIn yielding nothing..

And bonus is in 2mths time. Guess I can't have my cake and eat it too
