you can work very hard or you can learn from me and suck up to your bosses. Stick close to them, always eat with them, buy them coffee, ask about their lives outside work as if they are the most interesting people, always show interest in whatever they're doing even if it's damn mundane, and occasionally throw a colleague under the bus. just keep doing this and very soon your bosses will only choose you to promote cause they will have a bad impression of your competition. They dislike people who don't follow their management style or do things differently

I must say this can be applied anywhere you go not just synapxe. But some team you need some level of capability. But putting colleague under a bus is not good especially if impact your work. I agree with the sticking to them close, and your HOD must know you also. Volunteer for work that you are confidence can finish with a breeze. By the way my boss is the one buying coffee for us HAHAHAH

No pay leave request is it subjected to HOD or HR approval? What's typically the acceptable reason if not medically ill?
If its a key lead position will they hold the position for you till you are back eg 6mths later?

Your HOD not bad , still buy you coffee and let you focus on work. I once had a boss who just wanted wayang every day and to look good in front of top management (Require yes-men). Anyone who was actually good got cast out, and he only kept the yes-men. Those yes-men would dump all the work on newcomers, take the credit when things went well, and when anything went wrong, they’d push the blame to the newcomers. If you were a capable newcomer, the more you’d get compromised and abused and then they’d still say you’re not competent, lol. Like you said, sucking up to the boss was a required skill… those yes-men sucked up so much I also couldn’t tahan. I left because I just couldn’t stand watching them sucking up here and there , I knew I couldn’t live like that forever. And they’re still there every day, sucking the boss’s balls and abusing newcomers. I guess that’s how yes-men keep their balance and survive long in this kind of environment.

Need to prepare kid for PSLE or O levels.
Key positions not to be kept vacant for too long.
6 months is too long.

Very unlikely, can try 6K at top. Yes, payslip is a must, otherwise how to justify your increment, cannot just give you want you want right? If you currently earn 4K, the max you can get it 5K.

I think some departments are like that. You can sense it if you work with them. Things happen cannot react to any ****.
